Horror Rants: Halloween Reboot 1.1?

How’s this for a horror rant? There are strong opinions on both sides of the fence that either A.) hate the Rob Zombie Halloween reboot or B.) Absolutely loved it. I’m one of those that hang onto the fence not loving the reboot, but not hating it either. What many (some?) may not know was that there was another reboot pitched to studio execs. One that, clearly, was not favored to Rob Zombie’s vision. However, what did make it to the light of day was Federico D’Alessandro’s, head Storyboard Artist and Animatics Supervisor at Marvel Studios, animated Halloween short that was used to pitch this version of the reboot to Platinum Dunes when it was in the running to being used as the remake. D’Alessandro told Horror-movies.ca: “As a lifelong ‘Halloween’ fan it would be a dream to direct a reboot of the franchise that’s so near and dear to my heart,” said D’Alessandro. “I created this animatic to show the tone and storytelling that I would bring to the project if I were lucky enough to have that chance.” He added: “It turned out pretty cool, but unfortunately while I was in the middle of working on it, talks fell [...]

Ok, Olivia Munn, you have to be one of the coolest/funniest chicks that is in the entertainment biz. Check out this parody horror trailer featuring the “Wonder Woman”, Ghost Tits! An average guy’s girlfriend goes from a generous bosom to tiny breasts in the span of a day. When he questions her and his friends in a panic, he gets the same answer: “Her/my breasts have always been this way.” So he must be going insane! So it’s a fake “bootleg” trailer for the upcoming horror remake, The Evil Dead. As much as I was not happy with the announcement of the remake, I have to admit that this fan-made horror trailer for the film almost gave me some goosebumps (almost!) Horror Rants: A Night in the Woods Trailer

Yep, another found-footage horror film! But, are you really surprised? Despite the slew of found-footage films and the constant groans of movie-goers when a new trailer is released, there is just something about them that gravitates us to the movie theater to be filled with (mostly) disappointment. And so, as long as they keep making money, filmmakers will continue making these films hoping for the next big thing (see: Paranormal Activity). A Night in the Woods doesn’t look to offer anything new. In fact, there are eerie similarities with The Blair Witch Project that should of, in theory, had me shaking my head. But, for some reason it didn’t (kind of). The trailer for A Night in the Woods showed me something, dare I say? Potential. Of course, final judgement is reserved until after I’ve seen the film. The Tall Man International Poster and Trailer

A new poster and trailer has been released by way of France for the upcoming horror film The Secret, otherwise known as The Tall Man here in the states starring Jessica Biel. The trailer is in English, the text in the trailer is not. This one doesn’t sound too appealing to me and have a slight feeling that it may not be what it’s all cracked up to be. Still, I will reserve judgement until I see it. Synopsis: When her child goes missing, a mother looks to unravel the legend of the Tall Man, an entity who allegedly abducts children. I was always a fan of horror anthologies, whether it be in book form or in film form (see, Creepshow, Asylum, Trick r’ Treat, Tales From the Darkside, to name a few). Asian horror anthologies such as: Phobia, Phobia 2 & The Three Extremes films, are no exception. So, it is no wonder that I was excited to hear about the upcoming Korean horror film titled, Horror Stories. Take a look at some photos below and the trailer. Unfortunately, the trailer is not sub-titled leaving us to bask in the imagery alone. Synopsis: Five directors are gathered to tell their own horror stories. A high school student is kidnapped by a killer with speech disorder and has her life on the line.
