Ok, so this is one of those horror movies that I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time now. Why? For starters it’s a movie that takes place in a cabin, well, in the woods! Sound familiar? Next reason, it was co-written by Joss Whedon whom many of you may know from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, Firefly, Serenity as well as lending a hand in the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger film.

Although there is little known about the film itself and its plot, actress Amy Acker who stars in the film, sheds some light as she recently spilled the beans to The SciFiWire:

“There’s a lot of scary monsters. It is about a cabin in the woods!” Ok, so far she has stated the obvious, at least in the fact it has something to do with a cabin in the woods. She goes on to say, “It does take from the sort of formula of the horror movie of this group of young kids who go away to a cabin in the woods for the weekend, and everything that happens and what you think is supposed to happen.”

Now, the real crappy part of it all is that filming is actually complete! So why hasn’t it been released? If you take a look at the poster for the film above, you will notice that it has a release date of ‘02-05-10‘. We are in June and the film has yet to see the light of day. Reason being, wait for it, they are converting the film into 3D! There, I said it! Seems to be that every movie being released nowadays is getting the 3D treatment. Because of this, the film’s release has been delayed and the process will not be completed until the year 2011. No, that’s not a typo! New release date is January 14, 2011!

By the way, Joss Whedon has been quoted as saying, about The Cabin in the Woods, “Its the horror movie to end all horror movies… literally.”
